The show

  • BATIMAT, the construction trade show

Batimat is the international multi-specialism trade show for the construction industry. It draws in all contractor decision-makers and professionals to select the innovative solutions for the buildings of today and tomorrow.

Find the Batimat, Interclima and Ideobain trade shows together under one roof in a unique opportunity to discover innovations in construction, technical finishing works and bathrooms, meet current and future suppliers, take part in demonstrations, and get information/training on new techniques, technological advances and regulatory changes in the industry.

  • MAJOR THEMES IN 2019

  • Bloc - Thématiques (slider)

    • UNDERSTANDING CONSTRUCTION AND MOBILITY

Modes of urban transport are changing in line with technological innovations, environmental needs (new fuels) and social necessities (removing transport bottlenecks, journey time). New forms of mobility are emerging and developing in cities (e.g. electric, autonomous and hydrogen vehicles, scooters and bikes). Buildings of the future will take into account and adapt to changes in urban mobility, and perhaps even help solve its problems.

    • INVENTING NEW FLEXIBLE HOUSING

The functions of buildings are evolving as residents and their uses change. Buildings are now designed as neutral and flexible spaces rather than for a specific and unchanging use (housing, office, retail). From the design phase, buildings need to be able to adapt to various occupant uses (flexible, modular), be accessible (for people with disabilities) and affordable (inexpensive, French Day of Solidarity).

    • ADAPTING TO CHANGING USES THROUGH INCREASED CONNECTIVITY AND NEW TECHNOLOGIES

Regardless of the function of buildings (housing, offices), they include new technologies and facilities for easier management and maintenance (sensors, management interface, consumption management, energy performance). Developing connectivity creates new uses through interaction with the buildings themselves (windows, shutters, gas/electricity/telephone and water), their contents (furniture, equipment) and external areas (car, weather, work).

    • USING RENEWABLE NON-WASTE-GENERATING SOLUTIONS

To tackle the issue of increasing resource scarcity, the construction industry needs to develop solutions that are renewable (use of natural resources that can be quickly replenished) and limit waste (no waste, recycling). These solutions require rethinking the materials used and optimising waste management and recovery.

    • DESIGNING CONSTRUCTION METHODS WITH A LOW OR ZERO CARBON FOOTPRINT

The construction sector is helping tackle global warming by developing low- or zero-carbon emissions processes. It is also bringing plants and agriculture back to urban areas and buildings.

    • MAINSTREAMING TECHNOLOGIES TO OPTIMISE, STORE AND SHARE ENERGY AND SERVICES

Buildings are consuming less energy and incorporating new energy sources (renewables, hydrogen, biomass) from the design phase in order to facilitate development and help increase their share of user consumption. In the light of environmental and economic necessity and changes to regulations, the construction industry is incorporating and/or proposing energy performance management and energy-sharing solutions.

    • INDUSTRIALISING CONSTRUCTION AND RENOVATION PROCESSES.

The construction sector is becoming more efficient, effective and digital. The industry is changing to incorporate the latest digital tools (BIM, virtual reality) and adopt the most innovative solutions and processes (modular, off-site, 3D printing, robotics).

    • BOOSTING SKILLS AND IMPROVING WORKING CONDITIONS

The sector is training and recruiting. Safety remains a key concern of the construction industry.
